General26 September, 2017

In 2018, Shoptalk Europe will combine with Shoptalk U.S. to create the first global event focused on retail and ecommerce innovation. First, however, Shoptalk Europe will be held on 8-11 October 2017 in Copenhagen.

A single global conversation and community

“In 2017, we focused on developing the blueprints for the future of retail and ecommerce for the U.S. and Europe. We’re now in the enviable and unique position to create a single global conversation and community. We are excited to bring these initiatives together in 2018,” says Anil D. Aggarwal, founder and chief executive officer of Shoptalk.

The combination of Shoptalk Europe and Shoptalk U.S.’s efforts will be held on 18-21 March 2018 at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The combined event will facilitate a comprehensive global conversation and bring together a diverse and currently fragmented worldwide community of innovators, the organisers feel.

Shoptalk Europe on track to sell out

Shoptalk Europe, which will be held on 8-11 October in Copenhagen, is said to be on track to sell out. The organisation has announced that more than 2,200 attendees are joining, including over 350 CEOs. “We have created an exceptional and unique forum for the European retail and ecommerce ecosystem to interact in a meaningful way,” says Aggarwal.

Shoptalk Europe’s agenda covers the evolution of how consumers discover, shop and buy in an age of global digital transformation, and includes more than 225 speakers. The agenda incorporates the important new technologies, trends and business models that are disrupting retail and ecommerce across 15 insightful tracks and 100 highly curated sessions. The final Shoptalk Europe agenda can be viewed here.

This year’s event will also include formal networking programs which will collectively facilitate upwards of 3,000 curated onsite meetings. A wide range of organizations from around the world have already partnered to support Shoptalk Europe, including METRO Accelerator for retail powered by Techstars, French retail accelerator Lafayette Plug and Play, Dutch ecommerce association Thuiswinkel.org and pan-European lobbying body Ecommerce Europe.

Those wishing to register for Shoptalk Europe, can do so at shoptalkeurope.com. The details of the global Shoptalk event in March 2018 are available at shoptalk.com.

Belgium enables night work in distribution and e-commerce

The Belgian cabinet is abolishing the general ban on night work and relaxing the rules for retail. What had already been agreed upon in the summer is now confirmed: in distribution and e-commerce, only labour between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. counts as night work from now on.
