Temu conducts additional product inspections in warehouses following European fine

Temu tightens its product controls by establishing testing laboratories in the warehouses of its logistics partners. In response to the recent 200 million euro fine imposed by the European Union, the e-commerce platform had the independent certification body Bureau Veritas confirm that the laboratories are capable of conducting safety tests in accordance with European standards.

Additional checks before shipment

Temu is integrating laboratory testing into its logistics processes to detect potential safety issues with products before they reach consumers. The laboratories are now operational and are conducting random inspections on selected items, including jewelry, electrical appliances, and toys. Specifically, the laboratories check, among other things, whether jewelry contains prohibited or restricted substances, whether electrical appliances meet safety requirements, and whether toys comply with applicable standards.

Could Spanish olive oil exports to the United States be curtailed?

Spanish olive oil could disappear from the U.S. import market. The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission is considering imposing an embargo on certain Spanish products in retaliation for Spain's refusal to allow U.S. ships involved in transporting goods to Israel to enter its ports.
