(updated) According to initial estimates, the violent protests in France have affected over 3,000 stores. Sephora, Burberry, Galeries Lafayette, and Carrefour, among others, were targeted by looting or vandalism.

From luxury boutiques to supermarkets

The riots broke out last weekend during demonstrations over the cost of living and education in Paris and several other French cities. In Paris in particular, looters caused extensive damage in the shopping districts. Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, Lacoste, Kenzo, Salomon, and Arc’teryx, among others, were targeted by vandals. But in Bordeaux as well, Apple and Decathlon faced vandalism, and in Nantes, looters targeted Fnac. The Intermarché supermarket chain reported damage to about ten of its locations.
