Dutch family-owned holding company acquires Belgian PaperMints

Food12 October, 2026

PaperMints is being acquired in its entirety by Granville, the family holding company behind the Dutch Mignot & de Block Group. The new owner aims to accelerate the Belgian breath freshener manufacturer’s international growth and is also taking over distribution in the Benelux region immediately.

Two decades of breath fresheners

Granville has entered into an agreement to acquire all shares of PaperMints. The parties are not disclosing financial details of the transaction. Following the acquisition, PaperMints will retain its brand, positioning, and current management team.

The Belgian company has been selling sugar-free breath fresheners for more than twenty years, including CoolCaps capsules and Breath Strips. Through distributors, these products are now reaching more than 70 countries. PaperMints has the majority of its product line manufactured in Japan.

New markets and channels

The acquisition is primarily intended to give PaperMints additional commercial clout. Since October, Mignot & de Block has been handling the brand’s distribution in the Benelux region. Initially, the companies aim to strengthen PaperMints’ position there. Afterward, they will gradually target new international markets and sales channels, including retail, specialized distribution, the hospitality industry, and e-commerce.

Mignot & de Block dates back to 1858 and is one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the Netherlands. The company develops and distributes products such as tissue paper and filters and is best known for the Mascotte brand. With PaperMints, the group is entering a new category of consumer products.
