(update) Since Sunday, Ahold Delhaize—the parent company of Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall, among others—has been dealing with what it calls a “large-scale IT outage.” The websites and apps are down, online orders cannot be processed, and last week’s prices are still displayed on the shelves in physical stores. Delhaize is also experiencing technical difficulties behind the scenes.
Systems shut down
The outage, which the company describes as an “IT incident” or “security issue,” has led to a series of systems being shut down as a precaution. As a result, the websites, loyalty programs, and mobile apps of Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall are temporarily unavailable in the Benelux. Customer service is also difficult to reach.
