Now that the British competition authority has also given its approval, Vandemoortele can finalize the acquisition of Délifrance. The combined baking operations account for revenue of nearly 2.2 billion euros.
A new chapter
Vandemoortele had already announced the acquisition in March 2025, and the European Commission approved the transaction on December 18, 2025, on the condition that the Délifrance facilities in Béthune and Avignon, along with the associated French customer relationships, be sold. However, as long as the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) had not yet approved the acquisition, both companies were required to continue operating as completely separate entities.
Now the time has come: the CMA has granted that approval on the condition that Vandemoortele divest its facility in Worcester and the associated UK customer relationships. This means that Vandemoortele and Délifrance can now operate as a single company and begin this new chapter together, the Belgian company announced today in a press release.
The Bakery Products business unit is entering this new phase under the name Vandemoortele Délifrance, representing approximately 6,000 employees at 41 production sites in Europe, the U.S., and Asia, which together generate revenue of nearly 2.2 billion euros.
