One-third of major fashion brands say they are committed to paying a living wage, but only a fraction can demonstrate concrete progress. This is according to the latest Fashion Checker report from the Clean Clothes Campaign. Especially in light of the upcoming European due diligence legislation, the gap between promise and action is also becoming a risk for the companies themselves.
Transparency, but no wage data
The seventh edition of Fashion Checker analyzes 110 international fashion brands on living wages, transparency, and grievance mechanisms. One-third of them have already made a formal commitment to living wages, but according to the Clean Clothes Campaign, only 4% report concrete progress.
