Aldi Nord is stepping up its efforts in Spain. The discount retailer plans to open 200 additional stores there over the next five years and, for the second consecutive year, is posting double-digit growth on a like-for-like basis. Revenue for this fiscal year is expected to reach 2.8 billion euros.
Lidl remains the benchmark
Since 2019, Aldi has expanded its Spanish network by approximately 200 stores, bringing the total to 508 locations. Over the next five years, another 200 are expected to be added. The discounter would thus reach a level close to that of its rival Lidl in terms of the number of stores. This year, Aldi plans to open about 30 stores, as it does in 2027.
