The French chocolate and delicatessen chain Le Comptoir de Mathilde is expanding rapidly in Flanders. In Malines, franchisee Flavourtree already opens its fifth location in less than a year. Brussels is up next.
Five stores in less than a year
Le Comptoir de Mathilde originated in Provence and now has about 150 stores in France, offering both chocolate and confectionery as well as Provençal specialties such as mustard, vinaigrettes, and appetizers. The newest store is located on Bruul Street and, according to operations manager Véronique Dumont, immediately attracted a lot of interest at its opening. “It was even busier here than at our opening in Antwerp,” she told Gazet van Antwerpen.
