“Cravy” is the name of Delhaize’s new foodservice concept, which focuses on freshly prepared and ready-to-eat street food. Following a pilot location in Belval, two more test stores in Brussels will open this year, with a view to further expansion.
From breakfast to dinner
A standout feature in the recently renovated Delhaize supermarket in Belval, Luxembourg, is the brand-new food service concept Cravy, which was unveiled on Wednesday evening. According to the retailer, the concept aims to respond to changing eating habits and the growing demand for quality, speed, and convenience. The concept offers customers a varied selection of ready-to-eat street food, freshly prepared for any time of day, from breakfast to dinner.
Cravy is structured as a modular food market where various culinary worlds come together: from American and Italian cuisine to Lebanese, Tex-Mex, and Asian, complemented by a Bakery Café where customers can enjoy bagels, croissants, rolls, vegan toast, and croffles (waffles made from croissant dough—a trend taking the world by storm from South Korea, ed.).
Eventually expanding to 150 to 200 stores
How does it work? Customers place their orders via in-store kiosks and receive a text message when their order is ready for pickup at the counter. Thanks to its modular and flexible design, Cravy can be integrated into both large and smaller stores, and the concept can be tailored to the available space and local context.
Belval is the first pilot. Two Delhaize stores in Brussels will follow by the end of the year. The concept will then be further refined based on the experience gained, with a view to a phased rollout to 150 to 200 stores within the Delhaize network in Belgium and Luxembourg.
