Margaret Versteden-Van Duijn, who was appointed head of Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall just last year, will become CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia on October 1. The retailer has begun succession planning.
Leaving after one year at Albert Heijn
Versteden-Van Duijn will assume her new role as Executive Vice President Europe & Indonesia on October 1, 2026. Her appointment to the Board of Directors is subject to shareholder approval at an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held later this year; she will then take on the role of CEO of Europe & Indonesia.
Ahold Delhaize has begun succession planning for Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall and will provide further details at a later date. Until then, Margaret will continue to bear overall responsibility for the Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall brands. She made the transition from the online retailer Bol to Albert Heijn just last year. Prior to that, she worked at Bain & Company, Nike, and BCG. At Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia, she succeeds Claude Sarrailh, who is leaving to join the Italian chain Esselunga.
