Coolblue to open second Walloon store in Gosselies

Coolblue continues its expansion in French-speaking Belgium. There was a brief pause after the opening of its first Walloon store in Hognoul, but the second will follow later this year in Gosselies. The retailer sees potential for at least ten additional locations in Belgium.

Liège store is doing well

Coolblue will open a store at the City Nord retail park in Gosselies, near Charleroi, later this year. This is a popular shopping center with about 60 retailers, including well-known names such as Lidl, C&A, Kiabi, Di, TEDi, and Vanden Borre. The store in Gosselies will be Coolblue’s 12th Belgian store and its second in Wallonia, following the store at Shopping Hognoul (near Liège), which opened its doors in 2024.

“Our Liège store is doing very well. We’ve noticed that our store concept is resonating with our Walloon customers. In the region surrounding the store, we’re seeing even higher customer satisfaction and more online purchases. It gives customers confidence that they can turn to us for personalized advice when making the right product choice. We expect this to be the case at our store in Gosselies, near Charleroi, as well,” says Arne Van Verdegem, Country Manager of Coolblue Belgium.

At least ten additional stores

Gosselies is the retailer’s second store opening in Belgium this year, following the opening of Coolblue Drogenbos in February. A third store will open in Sint-Niklaas by the end of this year. “We see room for at least 10 additional stores in Belgium in the coming years,” says Van Verdegem.

Physical stores are an important part of Coolblue’s strategy: customers often already have an idea of which product they want, but would like to try it out first. “When you’re looking for a TV, you want to see it for yourself first. If you’re looking for headphones, you want to hear how they really sound. Starting at the end of this year, this will also be possible at our store in Gosselies.” There, customers can also get advice, receive immediate post-purchase service, and pick up online orders. The Coolblue app helps customers in the store compare products using QR codes to make the right choice.

How Belgium and Portugal saved Fnac Darty’s first half (of the year)

Fnac Darty posted virtually no revenue growth in the first half of 2026. Although Belgium, Luxembourg, and especially Portugal saw solid growth, the electronics retailer saw sales decline in its home market of France. Fans and air conditioners brought a welcome breath of fresh air in May and June.
