Alibaba is accelerating its instant commerce offensive in China. Logistics subsidiary Cainiao is opening new e-commerce warehouses for Tmall Supermarket, as well as expanding existing warehouses. The 31 openings and expansions will take just under a month, until the end of January.

Cainiao and Tmall Supermarket are joining forces to expand their logistics network and shorten delivery times. The initiative aims to strengthen Taobao’s position against Meituan and JD.com. With this collaboration, Alibaba wants to accelerate the scaling up of its infrastructure for fast delivery, SCMP writes.
