The Italian government is demanding significant extra guarantees from JD.com regarding data protection, before it will give its final approval for the acquisition of Ceconomy (MediaMarkt).
Conditions for approval
Despite already formally approving the acquisition a few days ago, it now appears that certain conditions are being imposed with regard to data protection, Reuters reports. For example, it demands that the personal data of Italian Ceconomy customers be stored separately and not be allowed to end up in JD.com’s databases.
