The Spanish chain El Corte Inglés has a new president: the board of directors has unanimously appointed Cristina Álvarez, sister of current president Marta, as its new president. According to the retailer, this move is intended to ensure stability and continuity.
Six years at the helm
Marta Álvarez will step down as head of El Corte Inglés on 15 January 2026, after six years in the role. She calls this this is a logical moment to appoint a new president, just after the appointment of a new management team. She will remain a member of the board of directors.
