Delhaize continues to expand in Luxembourg: the retailer will open a new supermarket in the Niederkorn shopping center in Differdange in April 2026 and will announce further store openings in the coming weeks.
New Portuguese range
A 1,500 m² Delhaize supermarket will open in Differdange on Thursday, April 16, 2026, selling around 22,000 products, including a completely new Portuguese range – after all, Luxembourg has a large Portuguese community. The hot snack range has been revamped, and there will be a wide selection of ready-made options for those who are short on time but still want to eat healthily, including an Isakaya sushi stand. The new supermarket will employ 40 people, have four traditional checkouts, two express checkouts, seven quick-scan checkout points, and a 135-space car park. It will be located in a brand-new 37,000 m² shopping center with more than 55 stores and restaurants.
“We want to create a warm store where customers immediately feel welcome,” says Sandra Da Silva, future store manager. “Residents will find a very wide range of quality products, as well as several new concepts designed to facilitate fast, healthy, and varied nutrition.” The expansion is part of Delhaize’s strategy to offer Luxembourgers more proximity stores throughout the country. The retailer has been active in the Grand Duchy for over a century and has 64 stores there. The chain will announce more news in the coming weeks, according to the press release.
