Suitable opens seven stores in one day

Dutch menswear chain Suitable has opened seven stores in one day last Saturday. All seven are former Steppin’ Out shops, a chain that Suitable acquired in September.

Steppin’ Out had ten shops: of these, the branches in Amsterdam, Breda, Bussum, Laren, Oosterbeek, Rotterdam and Zeist have been converted to Suitable shops. The three other branches (The Hague, Haarlem and Utrecht) will continue to operate as Steppin’ Out until the end of this year.

The two chains will strengthen each other in the future, Suitable founder Raoul van Dun says. For example, the atmosphere in the acquired shops should remain the same, but there will be a larger assortment thanks to the acquisition. The two chains also want to focus heavily on omnichannel, so that customers “experience the same high-quality service and varied offer, whether they are in the shop or placing an order online”.

Thanks to this weekend’s openings, Suitable now has 25 shops (24 Dutch locations and one in Antwerp, Belgium). Including the three Steppin’ Out shops yet to be converted, that will become 28. The chain started out as Peanuts and opened its first shop in Maastricht exactly 25 years ago.
