Bike24 Service Point Berlin

German online platform Bike24 continues its European conquest with the opening of new bicycle websites for Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The ambition: to become one of the leaders in online bike retail.

“Bicycle-friendly region”

After expanding towards France, Italy and Spain in 2022, Dresden-based online bike retailer Bike24 is now making the move to the Benelux. The e-commerce player has added Dutch as a language option and is opening dedicated country websites with local payment options for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The company says it now covers more than 70 % of the European market potential.

“With the Benelux, we are entering perhaps the most bicycle-friendly region in Europe. Amsterdam, Utrecht and Antwerp are among the cities worldwide with the best infrastructure for cyclists. Therefore, we see great growth potential in these countries”, CEO Andrés Martin-Birner said in a press release. “Bike24 already has great brand recognition in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg due to its proximity to Germany. We can now expand this further with our localised offering and expect to become one of the market leaders in online bike retail here in the medium term.”

Physical store

Bike24 achieved sales of 250 million euros in 2021 and employed some 450 people at the time. In southern European countries, the company saw a 160 % increase in sales last year. The webshop sells 77,000 references from more than 800 brands: traditional and electric bikes as well as spare parts, accessories, clothing and sporting goods.

Last year, the online player also opened its first physical store, in Berlin. At that Bike24 Service Point, which also acts as a pick-up point for online orders, cyclists can get advice on the right bike choice with the right size, as well as repairs.
