Alexander von Maillot, Nestlé

On 1 March, Nestlé Germany will find itself under new leadership. CEO Marc-Aurel Boersch is leaving Nestlé after twenty years at the company, and will be succeeded by Senior Vice President Confectionery & Ice Cream Alexander von Maillot.

Benelux as foretaste

The 54-year-old Boersch is leaving the company at his own request and wants to devote himself to private duties, Lebensmittel Zeitung reports. Boersch started in sales for the coffee and confectionery division in 2003 and became responsible for the Netherlands ten years later. At the time, that was considered a taster to later become head of Germany, which the manager did in early 2019.

Von Maillot currently leads the Swiss FMCG company’s global confectionery and ice cream business unit and will take over the torch in Germany on 1 March. Between 2013 and 2018, the 51-year-old headed the Belgian and Luxembourg markets.

Boersch was committed to updating the product range in Germany. Under his stewardship, for instance, Garden Gourmet‘s vegetarian range expanded, there was the acquisition of Ankerkraut and he pursued reduced sugar and fat levels in the group’s products.

Still, CEO Dirk Van de Put remains cautious: American consumers, in particular, are keeping a tight...
