Action launches in Italy

Action is now also operating in Italy. The discounter has already opened two stores there, with three more to follow in the upcoming weeks.

Delayed by a year

The Dutch non-food discount chain Action has launched in Italy. On 22 April, the chain opened its first two Italian outlets: one in Vanzaghello (Milan) and another in Turin. In the short term, according to the Italian newspaper Il Giorno, three more stores will open in the upcoming weeks. Specifically, it concerns outlets in the cities Carmagnola, Asti and Vercelli, all in the north of Italy, according to Retailtrends.

Action is starting in the north of the country because the supply is primarily coming from France. The distribution centre in Belleville, near Lyon, will be used for this purpose. Italy is already the ninth country where the retail company has set foot.

The Italian launch was planned a year earlier, but the coronavirus pandemic threw a spanner in the works. Even now, Action has had to postpone the opening date: the first store in Vanzaghello was to open its doors on 8 April, but all stores were still closed due to a lockdown.
