“Remarkable journey”

The foundation supports people in 35 countries, through collaborations with non-profit organizations, in order to help millions of children in poverty-stricken countries to a better life. Donations come from Ikea profit and represented 3 % of the group’s total profit this year.

“Last year was a remarkable journey for us at the IKEA Foundation,” said Per Heggenes, Chief Executive Officer of the IKEA Foundation. “By giving more than ever, we were able to develop innovative new partnerships, helping ensure we can reach 100 million children and their families by 2015.”

50,000 matrasses for Syria

It is the largest global corporate donor to parties like UNICEF, Save the Children, the UN’s Refugee Agency (UNHCR), KickStart International and Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). In total, the foundation works alongside 31 non-profit organizations worldwide.

Ikea Foundation has donated 50,000 matrasses to UNHCR for Syrian refugees and more than 10 million euro to UNICEF and Save the Children to get better education. To achieve that, they work with Development Alternatives to learn Indian women to read, write and calculate, while it finances 2,000 scholarships there to help women to go to college.
