RetailHunt: New Samsung flagship store is not a store

An experience room with nothing to buy, that is basically Samsung's new "technological playground", which opened on 23 February in New York's trendy Meatpacking district. It is called Samsung 837, which refers to the number on the door.

Why would Samsung open yet another store? Consumers have plenty of channels to buy technological devices, both online and offline. Samsung 837 however is a marketing initiative, reinventing the traditional shopping experience.

With more than 5,000 sqm, spread over three floors, visitors can get the full Samsung experience.


Gigantic screen

A customer service provides technical support and workshops. If you want to watch a movie or one of the numerous livestreams, like last Sunday's Oscars, then you can head to the theater with a gigantic digital screen consisting of 96 55 inch screens.

There is also an art gallery for technological art, a Virtual Reality tunnel, a radio studio with DJ sets and live recordings, a kitchen filled with the latest Samsung technology, a playroom for gamers, a smart living room for those who wish to relax and a bar to enjoy a drink, breakfast, lunch or snack.
