American online giant Google has launched two new stores this week: the world's first physical Google Shop in London and its hardware-focused Google Store online.
Google Shop offline, ...
The first Google Shop is located in the Tottenham Court Road, in a Currys PC World store. It is not the only store it will open in London, as two other London-based Currys PC World stores will get Google Shop shop-in-shops soon.
Google wants to use these physical stores to sell Android products, Chromebook laptops and Chromecast devices. It is not the first foray into physical stores Google has made, but it is the very first carrying the company's name.
Google Store online
Consumers can now also visit the online Google Store, which is separate from its Google Play Store. The latter will now only focus apps, digital movies, books and music. The former on the other hand will focus on all things hardware.
"With a expanded product family, we deemed it time to facilitate the way to discover our products", Google said. The usual suspects (smartphones and tablets) will be present, but customers can also browse Chromebook laptops, Chromecast sticks and even Nest smoke detectors.
