Alibaba is Retailer of the Year at World Retail Congress

Alibaba has won the top award at the World Retail Congress, namely "Retailer of the Year". Primark took home two awards, and bizarrely allround winner Alibaba did not win the prize for best web shop.

Two awards for Primark

According to the expert jury, Alibaba earned the "Retailer of the Year" award because it thoroughly changed consumer behaviour in China and managed to breakthrough worldwide.

Primark's CEO received the "Outstanding Leadership Award" and his store chain got the "Retail Transformation and Reinvention Award". According to the jury, Primark was a continuous success this past year, like with its international expansion.

British Marks & Spencer's "For Every Milestone" campaign was dubbed the ad campaign of the year, while toy chain Hamley's store in Moscow received the "Store Design of the Year". Missguided.com's founder, Nitin Passi, was given the "Young Retail Entrepreneur" award for his work, while JD.com beat Alibaba to become the "e-Commerce Retailer of the Year".
