The French market is becoming increasingly important for Kazidomi: the Brussels-based organic webshop has acquired its French competitor Smartfooding – including the latter’s organic baby food store Graine de bonne santé.
Economies of scale
Customers of French e-commerce player Smartfooding are informed on the website that they can to place an order from now on at Kazidomi. Their membership will be transferred. The Belgian online retailer of organic and ecological products has acquired its French competitor, CEO Emna Evrard confirms to Belgian newspaper L’Echo.
“This acquisition allows us to achieve economies of scale and gain an important customer base. The French market is growing at a similar pace to the Belgian one, but offers greater potential due to its size,” she says. France represents 60 % of the turnover of Kazidomi, which operates in fifteen countries.
Just like Kazidomi, Smartfooding works with a subscription model that offers customers additional benefits. The French online shop also owns a Normandy-based webshop specialising in organic baby food, Graine de bonne santé. This will retain its separate name and webshop, but the activities will be continued by Kazidomi. No figures on Smartfooding’s turnover or the takeover sum will be disclosed.
