As previously announced by the foodservice company, Sligro Food Group in the Netherlands saw its profits fall sharply last year.
The Dutch catering wholesaler Sligro had imagined its conquest of Belgium in a completely different way. Every new store is a new struggle: "The competition has made it very difficult," says CEO Koen Slippens.
The Dutch Sligro Food Group has tripled its profits in the past year, thanks to the sale of its supermarket branch to Jumbo and Coop. On a comparable basis, the company's results are at the same level as last year.
Dutch food service wholesaler Sligro Food Group has achieved a 9.6 % turnover growth in 2018. Total turnover went up to 2.346 billion euros, in line with expectations.
After two disappointing quarters, Dutch food wholesaler Sligro finally managed to show some growth again. Thanks to the warm summer, comparable sales increased by 3.3 %; including acquisitions, there was even a growth of 11.4 %.
Sligro Food Group sold its struggling supermarket chain Emté to a group which consists of supermarket companies Jumbo and Coop.
