This week, the offices of supermarket chains Casino and Intermarché (in France) and Carrefour and Louis Delhaize (in Belgium) were visited by inspectors from different competition authorities. They are investigating whether the retailers violated antitrust regulations with their purchase alliances.
The Belgian Competition Authority is investigating whether some supermarket chains have violated competition rules. Yesterday, a search and seizure took place at the headquarters of Carrefour and Provera (louis delhaize). For clarity's sake: Ahold Delhaize is not involved in the matter.
Provera Belux, the purchase alliance behind Cora, Match and louis delhaize in Belgium, is delegating its negotiations with 140 important FMCG producers to Carrefour Belgium. This should provide synergies for all parties involved.
