Fnac, Darty and Vanden Borre may soon be joined by another chain: the group is said to be considering the acquisition of French retailer Nature & Découvertes. The hobby chain currently has 100 outlets, and might prove to be an interesting addition.

British DIY chain Kingfisher will be closing 34 outlets over the next two years, including eleven in France. The group is also looking for a new CEO to succeed Véronique Laury, who will be stepping down.
After reporting a net loss of 1.145 billion euros in 2018, French retail group Auchan has now announced a cost cutting plan for its hypermarkets, including major restructurings.
French minister of economics Bruno Le Maire will be submitting a draft legislation in which major internet companies will be charged with a 3 % turnover tax. He feels the European Union takes too long to reach an agreement.
French retail giant Carrefour has seen its comparable turnover grow 1.4 % in the past year, to 84.916 billion euros. Excluding non-recurring events (such as selling the Dia chain), net profits ended at 802 million euros (+ 3.75 %).
Despite difficult circumstances, Fnac Darty has finished 2018 with a small turnover growth and a 20 % profit increase. Sales improved in the Benelux as well, even after seven BCC stores were closed in the Netherlands.
French supermarket group Casino continues to sell its stores: the company has sold 33 supermarkets to Lidl and one Geant hypermarket to rival E.Leclerc.
