First Moroccan IKEA will open later this year

Swedish furniture giant IKEA will open its first Moroccan store later this year, which is earlier than expected. Previously, the chain announced the expansion for 2015.

Casablanca

Ikea had announced the arrival of a Moroccan store back in 2013 and it added that it would build the store in the vicinity of Casablanca. It had pinned 2015 as the opening date, but it seems that things will be finished much faster. The Ikea store will be located in Zenata, a Casablanca suburb.

Ikea has collaborated with SYH Marokko, a subsidiary of Al Homaizi, to develop the store. The company from Kuwait has had Ikea's Middle Eastern franchise rights for the past 30 years. The new store will employ some 300 people, while it will help create another 300 jobs elsewhere.
