Shopping center De Commanderie, 4,000 sqm store space in Bilzen, has managed to sell or rent 86 % of its store space at its launch.
It has quite a few well-known retail brands, like Hunkemöller, Ici Paris XL, Hema, Spar and Zeeman already on board.
JD.com has its eye on the port of Zeebrugge as a springboard to Europe. The Chinese e-commerce player, which mainly focuses on logistics, visited the port together with Flemish prime minister Jan Jambon.

Food, decorations and health are gradually taking the place of fashion chains on the Belgian high street and in shopping centres. Rents are falling, except for those outlets along main roads. And of course, the dividing line between physical shops and online sales is becoming even more blurred.
The former Mexx store in Mons, Belgium is for rent again after a year-long renovation, but the price is set at 30,000 euros per month - twice the local average. It is a textbook example of how real estate logic sometimes clashes with retail and other interests.
