Zara trials interactive changing rooms and self-service cash registers

Spanish Zara is currently trialing several technological innovations, like interactive changing rooms and self-service cash registers, that should be introduced worldwide early next year.

Tablets in the changing rooms

Over the past three months, Zara trialed these innovations in several stores in Germany, Spain and the United States. It installed tablets in every changing room, connected to a register at the entrance of the changing room area. This way, customers can easily request other sizes or colours of a certain piece of clothing.

The tablets also give recommendations of matching pieces of clothing, while customers can see how many are still left in the store. Zara is also working with self-service cash registers, allowing customers to scan and pay for their clothing themselves.

The company has not revealed where and when it will introduce these innovations, but Zara will definitely take things up a technological notch in the future.
