The labour unions and Belgian store chain Delhaize have reached a partial agreement, focused on the restructuring of the warehouse workers. Clerk negotiations are still on-going.
The agreement will now be presented to the staff at the distribution centers and if they are satisfied, the labour unions will be able to close the deal with the board.
Delhaize wants the employees to agree as fast as possible in order to avoid strikes, which may lead to store shortages again. There is a lot of profit to be gained during the holiday period and the board wants to avoid strikes at all costs.
