EU food exports under pressure from Trump tariffs

An additional 20 % import tariff on all products entering the United States is bound to have a major impact on European food exports. The beer sector is facing an even more severe blow, due to a quite bizarre classification.

Dismay in dairy

Donald Trump’s unprecedented import tariffs are expected to deal a significant blow to European food producers, who currently export over thirty billion euros worth of goods to the US each year. For many exporters, the American market is vital, and there are no immediate or realistic alternatives for if that market should disappear. On the other hand, numerous products will become virtually unaffordable for US importers under the new tariffs.
