Featured Groupon opens physical store in Singapore

Coupon website Groupon has opened a physical shop in the center of Singapore, where visitors can collect their orders and discover by interesting deals. This is Groupon's first step in the offline retail world after four years of being a 'pure (online) player'.

Persuading Digital Illiterates

The shop officially opened its doors earlier this week, after a trial period. "Our customers prefer to pick up their Groupon Goods instantly and in a more convenient location," said Mr Karl Chong, CEO of Groupon Singapore. Whether this shop is a keeper or a pop-up store is yet to be determined, as is the question whether other stores are to follow soon.

With comfortable sofas and a lot of space, Groupon wants to attract clients who feel uneasy with online purchases. Fifty people are employed in the shop to take care of the personal contact with the client and to enlarge the involvement of the client with the brand. The website however is always present: internet terminals supply interesting deals for the client.
